May Week is a national program of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. that was created at Del-ta’s second National Convention in 1920 at Wilberforce University.
To highlight our program: Delta Academy, Delta GEMS, EMBODI, Delta Doll Pageant, Senior Citizens, Physical & Mental Health, Social Action, Jabberwock/Scholarships.

DownloadJames Edward Clemmons, Jr. Community Service Award is in honor of the late Sheriff James Edward Clemmons, Jr. Sherriff Clemmons served as a mentor for the Bennettsville -Cheraw Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Embodi program for over fifteen years. Embodi stands for Empowering Males to Build Opportunities for Developing Independence. As a mentor, he served in several capacities with these young men.
They are as follows:
1. He helped the young men to make healthy life style choices.
2. He provided numerous workshops on cultural, educational and social expectations.
3. He shared his expertise on avoiding and navigating the criminal justice system.
4. He served as a chaperone and cook on male bonding trips.
5. He served as a chaperone on cultural field trips.
6. He assisted the young men with the Community Service Project of Adopt a Highway.
7. He modeled the characteristics of being a leader, team player, gentleman, and provider.
In addition to his service to these young men, he served other organizations in the community which helped all people. Not only was he a leader in the community, the governor of NC and President Biden appointed him to serve on several Criminal Justice Commissions
He was active in his church.
